Path of Exile – Handy Tips to Make a Powerful Two-Handed Axe

Path of Exile presents a game that offers a variety of different weapons for you to choose from.
Whilst this is a neat feature, there is a lot to get your head around for certain aspects of it, especially when it comes to spending PoE currency on the right items to make the most of the best methods.
Therefore, here are a few steps for you to get both of your hands on a deadly two-handed axe.

If you have been looking for a way to make a weapon to be reckoned with, here are a few hints on how to do it.

Purchasing a Base Axe

Your first step in this guide is to purchase your two-handed axe. You want to find an axe within the
database that has the highest DPS to start with, so keep an eye out for which one has the biggest
stats, which in this case is usually the Vaal Axe. Fleshripper is another good option to choose from,
but your best bet is sticking with the Vaal Axe for now.
Head over to PoE Trade and search for Vaal Axe, and input level 80 within your search criteria. In
your criteria, make sure that you are searching for an Elder item, and that it is not corrupted. You
may find that they are a lot to pay for out of your PoE currency when your search is complete, but
given the end result, it will most definitely be worth your time and money.

Enhancing Your Base Weapon

Your next step is to improve the quality of the axe. You can do so with the use of perfect fossils. The
reason why this is important is that it gives out more damage per second when the item has higher
quality. You can then craft quality onto the item to take it even further, which will also help when
linking it. The fossils can be expensive, which means it can be a costly process, but you could also get
lucky and hit level 30 quality with them to make it into the foundation of a formidable weapon.
Take the axe to a crafting bench and put quality into the axe. You should be able to scroll down to
near the bottom of the list where it will give you the option to put 15 to 18 quality into your 2H

Linking the Axe

This is where the higher costs come in depending on your RNG (Random Number Generator). You
want to be going for a 6-link item if possible, or even a 5-link if you prefer, so go ahead and start
clicking to get the links you require. Alternatively, you can go away and just buy a 6-link item instead if you prefer to do it that way.

The Affix and The Beast

Moving onto PoE orbs, you will need a fair few Orb of Alteration for this next step to add more magic
to your axe to get the mods you desire. You may want to use an Orb of Annulment to get rid of one
of the mods, though this is risky as you may break and have to repeat the process all over again.
With that in mind, you can use a Beast Imprint to make an imprint of your item which will stop you
from having to do over if you do break it.
Head back to PoE Trade and purchase a Craicic Chimeral, which will allow you to make the imprint
when put into beast crafting. It can be expensive but again, it’s worth the money if it stops you from
having to keep repeating the process.

Adding Mods

As you continue to make improvements to your axe, you will then want to consider adding mods.
Luckily, there is no RNG to worry about in this part. You can access recipes through the PoE trade
site if you wish. Clearing the Pale Court is a great way for you to get the crafting option to have
multiple mods.
Once you have this, take it down to the PoE crafting bench, scroll down to put the choice of multiple
mods on, which may cost you some Exalted to do so, and you’re good to go. You can also choose to
add some additional crafting options here, so choose the ones that will cater to your item the most.
This should give you an idea of how to get a very powerful two-handed axe in Path of Exile. It may
cost you a fair bit of PoE Currency here and there, but it will be most certainly worth it once you are
swinging such a deadly weapon.
